In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

With confidence, let us pray together to the Almighty God, who resurrected from the dead his only Son, Jesus Christ. May he grant us strength and courage during this ordeal. May he nourish our hope in eternal life.

Let us pray.

Lord, in front of death that we find incomprehensible, we know well that Your sight is infinitely greater than ours. Thus, from the deepest part of ourselves, we wish to trust in You.

Jesus, Your Beloved Son, is our hope. We believe that Your love can conquer death. You alone can make life triumph. Above the evil that destroys us, You alone can heal our hearts, giving them the strength to love anew.

In Jesus , Your Beloved Son, you call us to live in a communion of love with You. May us grow in this love that unites us to N. now and forever.

Amen.

A Reading from the First Letter of John (4: 7-10)

We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as others do who have no hope.

We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. This is the way we shall be with the Lord for ever.

With such thoughts as these, then, you should encourage one another.

Psalm 130

Response/ Remember, Lord, Your Love.

Out of the depths* I call to you, LORD; Lord, hear my cry! May your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

If you, LORD, keep account of sins, Lord, who can stand? But with you is forgiveness and so you are revered.

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits and I hope for his word.

My soul looks for the Lord more than sentinels for daybreak. More than sentinels for daybreak, let Israel hope in the LORD,

For with the LORD is mercy, with him is plenteous redemption, and he will redeem Israel from all its sins.

The Gospel according to John (14: 1-6)

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house there are many places to live in; otherwise I would have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to myself, so that you may be with me where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

Thomas said, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?' Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Joint Prayer

Lord, let us again speak of N. to you. By praying for him (her), we unite ourselves to you, and to all those who have left us and live in communion with God.

Response/ I put my trust in the Lord, I am sure of His Word.

God our Father, we wish to thank you for this life You have given to N. We thank you for the love you put in his (her) heart. Allow him (her) now to be forever joined in Your love.

God our Father, separation with those whom we are close to is a source of great suffering, for death is a mystery to us: help us to believe with strengthened faith in eternal life.

God our Father, it is You who bring together Your children that they may life You in peace and love. From this moment on, make us live in deep spiritual communion with all those who have left us.

God our Father, make us always attentive to the needs of others: that we may have words of comfort for the one that suffers; that we may be present to the one whop lives in solitude; that we may be a smile of kindness to the one who does not believe in love.

Conclusion:

Let us turn to the Lord of Heaven and Earth, and entrust him with our suffering in speration, and our hope in the power of His love as we say: Our Father…

Through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, may we obtain peace and confort, now and at the hour of our death:  Hail Mary…

May the Lord bring  N. to his (her) eternal home; that He wipe from our faces every tear and every sorrow, keeping us in His divine favour : Glory Be …

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
